Title:
SmartRocks™: Complete DRA workflows available in the cloud
Authors:
Vegar Ravlo
Abstract:
Digital Rock Analysis (DRA) is an important complement to laboratory core analysis, but adoption is often limited by computational requirements, fragmented workflows, and restricted access to integrated tools. This poster introduces SmartRocks™, a cloud-based, commercially available DRA platform delivering an end-to-end, scalable workflow from raw image data to multi-scale and multi-phase simulations. SmartRocks™ integrates AI-driven image processing, including interactive three-phase segmentation, super-resolution, and 2D–3D reconstruction of pore structures below micro-CT resolution. The platform supports calculation of petrophysical properties, extraction of single- and multi-scale pore network models, and pore-scale solvers for capillary pressure, relative permeability, and resistivity indices. A key motivation is reducing user bias in image segmentation through simplified, interactive workflows requiring minimal parameter input. Multi-phase simulations can be conducted on both single- and multi-scale pore networks, with automatic anchoring to laboratory data such as MICP to ensure representativeness. The cloud-native architecture enables rapid, repeatable digital SCAL workflows validated against laboratory measurements.
