Title:
Understanding dynamic processing during hydrometallurgy using time-resolved spectral micro-CT imaging.
Authors:
Wesley De Boever, Arjen Mascini, Michiel Krols, Jan Dewanckele, Bert Maschaele
Abstract:
In this work, we use dynamic and spectral micro-CT to investigate the processes happening during hydrometallurgy at a pore-scale level. Lead carbonate was dissolved using organic acids, resulting in the formation of CO2 while lead ions go into the aqueous solution, allowing recovery of the lead. This process is gaining importance with the world's growing demand for metals for semiconductors, batteries, photovoltaic cells, etc.
